You can ask for your child to be allowed time off for:

- An appointment at the hospital, doctors, dentist etc.

- Days of religious observance.

- A family holiday in term time that is unavoidable. No more than 10 days can be authorised and forms can be collected from the school office.

 

You can not ask for or allow your child off  school for:

- Minding the house.

- Looking after brothers and sisters.

- Celebrating a birthday.

- Sleeping in.

- Having a hair cut.

- Family photograph.

- Head lice

-To accompany another family member to their

  medical appointment.

- Not wanting to arrive late at school.

Sometimes you may have problems getting your child to school. It may be a family problem or something at school bothering your child. If you would like help, please contact our Pastoral Support team (2313469).

 

IMPORTANT

If you do not telephone or send a note to let us know why your child is absent from school, we legally have to record it as an unauthorised absence. This is counted by Sheffield City Council’s Children and Young Peoples Department  as truancy and can lead to them taking legal action against you.
